“Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.”
1 Peter 4:1
Suffering results from the conflict between the wishes of man and the will of God. It is when God says go one way and flesh (others or our own) says go another. The flow of this world’s system directly opposes the Kingdom of Heaven. The result: when you obey God, you suffer opposition. Persecutions, afflictions and trials are born out of this.
We are instructed to arm ourselves to suffer. An unprepared Christian is like a soldier who goes to war unarmed! An unarmed soldier will either be captured or killed. Unless he escapes the battle and accomplishes nothing. Likewise an unarmed Christian will react to trials, afflictions, and persecutions with shock, confusion and bewilderment. They will be unable to respond according to the Spirit of God but rather will react. The following issues are addressed in this video:
* What is true suffering?
* What is its source?
* Is it a lack of faith to suffer?
* What does suffering produce in our lives?
* Are you armed to suffer?
* What is the only way to avoid suffering?
